Siesta enhances the language skills of children
A new study found that children sleep for a few extra hours during the day is very helpful to improve their language skills and remember new words.
The researchers suggest that parents start by reducing the period of nap children, with the approach of pre-school.
The dish group of researchers at Arizona State University and the US, the experience of "learning verbs" to children at the age of three years, and found that those who slept for a while after learning new acts, have a better understanding of words when tested 24 hours later.
The researchers divided the children into two groups, the first who usually sleep during daylight hours, and the second, a group of children including those who do not take enough time to nap.
The chosen number of children within each group at random to enter into a state of siesta, and lasting up to 30 minutes at least, after learning of the new act, and also has been keeping some of them in the waking state.
And display the children's video in which people represent the new words they learned shows, after 24 hours of learning these words, re-view the same video to learn about children's ability to remember these words.
The results showed that children who took the one-hour nap after learning new words, their performance was better than those who stayed awake for 5 hours at least after learning.
The researchers chose to study "Learning verbs," because usually acts are the most difficult to learn the simple names, such as "Dad" and "Mom" and "dog".
Said Michelle Sandoval, who led the study: "The exciting acts interesting and very difficult for the children, they are kept with the passage of time."
Attention is focused on researchers know the effects of napping on the pre-school in particular, where children tend to take breaks somewhat lower. Scientists also confirms the lack of reason to worry parents, if the child did not sleep during the day, as is the overall rate of sleep the most important element.
Children should get at some stage before entering the school, for 10 or 12 hours sleep in 24 hours, and could cause children do not get enough sleep negative consequences in the long term.
